Baseload’s fourth virtual seminar focused on ecosystems from a geothermal perspective. Invited guests discussed challenges on a global and political level, and geothermal ecosystems where mineral extraction is added to the geothermal value chain. The digital ecosystems concern the web of suppliers and partners, and ecosystems of people how we attract talent. Finally, the future of sustainable finance was debated, as well as the ecosystem of renewable energy on a small-scale level. Watch this inspiring and informative seminar on our YouTube channel.
An industry roundtable discussion was held At WGC Congress 2020+1 in Reykjavik. The subject was the need to unite our industry: the demand of geothermal energy is rising, but are we ready to deliver? The participants agreed that the sector needs cooperation and co-celebration, refined strategies and clear and focused communication towards policymakers and the public. This lively and enjoyable debate was hosted by Baseload Capital, ThinkGeoEnergy and the International Geothermal Association, and can be watched here.
Taiwan is a country with a big geothermal potential, but regulatory restrictions are slowing down the development. Baseload Power Taiwan has signed a list of recommendations to accelerate the progress of geothermal power in the country. The document calls for simplified administrative procedures, a national geothermal power law, establishing a single contact window or unit to assist in the overall application and other procedures to set up geothermal plants. Baseload Power Taiwan was established in 2019, drilled their first well in 2020 and plan to have a second well drilled in the first half of 2022.
