Coffee with Baseload interview series has gone live!
Coffee with Baseload is an attempt to deformalize the discussions around making the switch to clean energy and moving towards a planet in balance. At Baseload Capital feel like geothermal is what we do every single day, so we shouldn’t need a global ‘summit’ or industry ‘roundtable’ to keep the conversation going.
“We are very excited to launch this series and really drive the conversation about geothermal energy. At Baseload we feel like the industry really just needs more continual exposure in order to really grow. So, rather than having one seminar or summit per year, with Coffee with Baseload we aim to keep the conversation going.”
Baseload’s fifth virtual seminar will be focused the industry movement “The Geothermal Decade.” Over the past six years we have seen amazing growth within geothermal energy, and we want to continue this exponential growth throughout the 2020s. We push the conversation regarding the steps needed to really deliver the energy transition by 2030 and make geothermal the foundation of clean energy.

In Iceland, the focus during Q4 continued to be to optimize and bring existing power plants to full capacity. Our local development company has planned for drilling on the Efri-Reikir project, which is expected to take place during the first half of 2022. A new Project Manager, Jón Örn Jónsson, joined the team in Q1 and will lead the project. In addition, they have signed two new land leases in the Fludir area (Laugar Haukholt) and are now preparing and planning a full-scale exploration program.

Because we are in the midst of the #GeothermalDecade, Baseload's CEO, Alexander Helling and our CMO, Kristina Hagström Ilievska presented an amazing talk to drive the conversation for making 'The Switch' over to heat power. In our CERAWeek presentation, we discuss more about heat power, the possibilities it can open, and insights into how, through our unified efforts, heat power can transform the energy industry.

We’re excited to announce our first project in the U.S. to harness excess heat from oil and gas wells.This will be our first collaboration with German supplier Orcan Energy. Based on the results of this new project, Baseload Capital will be able to evaluate the potential of developing similar projects at sites across the U.S.
